HUNDRED MILLION POUND ROVER
It
had been close on 40 years since a large white balloon was seen rolling around
the village of Portmeirion, so it was with some surprise that one was seen
on November 28th 2005, accompanied by some local school children!
The occasion was the launch of a range of programmes, totaling£116m, by the Big Lottery Fund, prior to a special launch conference at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on November 30th, organised by Fund Director Ceri Doyle.
Pupils from Ysgol Cefn Coch in nearby Penrhyndeudraeth took part in the launch, alongside the giant lottery ball. The money will be split between 4 programmes, targeting local communities, mental health issues, life skills, and healthy and active children. The launch was also televised, on the S4C programme "Wedi 7".
