SIX OF ONE ATTEMPTS TO DISCREDIT INDEPENDENT PROJECTS
This latest wad of nonsense has appeared on the Six of One website as part of their ever-expanding "Society Details" (rules of membership):
"Members should not assume that any official-looking material on the Internet or from other non-Six of One sources is official. Any declaration that an item or activity has been produced or arranged with the endorsement of Six of One should not be relied upon unless society subscription material has made this clear. Any description of products or activities given within the mailings is to be regarded as being for the information of members only and it should not be inferred that Six of One endorses these things. " UNQUOTE
The impication seems to be that some Prisoner-related projects and events may not be official simply because they're not approved by Six of One! This is nonsense. Let's not forget that it's Carlton, and NOT Six of One who own the copyright to The Prisoner! Such projects do not REQUIRE the endorsement of the fan club! (Two examples: Prisoner Day 2003 had Carlton's official permission to screen episodes. SlowDazzle's Prisoner Calendar was officially approved by Carlton. Neither projects needed to ask Six of One for approval. Quite frankly, it's none of 6o1's business!)
This appears to be yet another attempt by the society to "rubbish" independent projects by non-members. Neither The Unmutual website or the other independent sites which I link to have ever declared themselves to be endorsed by Six of One. Nor have I seen or heard of any events, websites or publications that pretend to be produced by Six of One that aren't.
In fact, many Prisoner fans are eager (and PROUD) to distance themselves from the disgraced Six of One and, contrary to the society's easily disprovable claims, would do everything in their power to PREVENT themselves and their projects being associated with the disreputable fan club!
