BETTE BOURNE R.I.P.
Sad news has reached TUW that Peter Bourne, later to become Bette Bourne, who played the Projection Operator in the episode 'The General' has passed away. He was 84.
A fine actor, Bourne also appeared in 'The Avengers' and toured the country in various Shakespeare plays.
Later changing his name to Bette, Bourne became a leading member of the Gay Liberation Front in the 1980s and later founded the very successful gay cabaret troupe Bloolips.
Bourne continued his very successful career well into the 2000s, winning an Edinburgh Fringe award for his portrayal of Quentin Crisp in the play 'Resident Alien', and also appeared in 'Theatre of Blood' and other well-received stage productions.
Bette Bourne, a true trailblazer of performing and of gay rights, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his friends and family, and it is to them that TUW extends its sincerest sympathies.
