ALVIN RAKOFF R.I.P.
TUW is saddened to hear that veteran film and TV director Alvin Rakoff has passed away at the age of 97.
Alvin directed several ITC shows in the 1960s, launching the careers of Sean Connery and Alan Rickman, movies such as 'Crossplot', and directed Patrick McGoohan in the 1991 film "The Best of Friends", which McGoohan stated was one of his favourite roles. Alvin himself recalled that one scene in the film was acted so superbly that he failed to call "cut", such was the emotion that was overcoming him during the scene.
Alvin was a popular, friendly, and very interesting guest at 'Not a Number - A Patrick McGoohan Retrospective' at Elstree Studios in 2018 (available on DVD HERE) and will be remembered with much respect. TUW's thoughts are with his wife Sal, and the rest of his family and friends.
Another obituary, which mentions Patrick McGoohan, can be read HERE.
