One
year after its official launch in Portmeirion, the author of "On the Trail
of The Prisoner" returned to the village to repeat the book signing on
Saturday May 15th 2004. Catherine Nemeth Frumerman, a native New Yorker and
admirer of Portmeirion, wrote her book as a guide to Portmeirion's Prisoner
locations. Illustrated throughout with excellent colour photographs by Catherine's
husband Bruce Frumerman, the book was published by Roger Goodman's company Priz
Biz. One year on, sales of the title are approaching 2,500 copies and a recent
edition of The Mail on Sunday praised the book and covered Cathy's promotional
visit.
Shockingly, although receiving a copy a year ago, Six of One the amateur
Prisoner fan club have never reviewed the book or featured it in their news
pages. Just one of several Prisoner-related items they have ignored. (See
www.sixofone-info.co.uk for more details). Presumably this is due to childish
spite because they were not involved in its production. Fortunately, some
of their members had the foresight to look elsewhere for Prisoner news and
discovered the book for themselves. Fact is that sales of the book far exceed
the numbers of fan club members, proving that Six of One have no stranglehold
on Prisoner fandom.
